TERRY REDLIN UNVEILS "AN AMERICAN PORTRAIT"

Saturday, August 7th and Sunday, August 8th, 2004, “America’s Most Popular Artist”, Terry Redlin, made a special guest appearance at the Redlin Art Center in Watertown, South Dakota. During this special 2-day event, Redlin unveiled his new series of seven paintings! It was the first time the series was viewed by the public.
The collection of paintings has been in the works since 1995. Inspired by the artists’ personal experiences, the paintings capture the emotion of seven “heartfelt firsts”. Together, these individual paintings create “An American Portrait”.

For true fans and collectors of Terry Redlin's work, the series "America the Beautiful" continues to touch us...move us, many of us to tears. According to Charles Redlin, son of the artist, "The new series is even more emotional than the 'America' series".
The nationally recognized, chart-topping group, Mannheim Steamroller, gave a special concert on the grounds of the Redlin Art Center following the signing event on Saturday evening to a crowd of approximately 10,000 people. This concert was a gift from Chip Davis, the group’s founder, to Terry Redlin. The two artists have collaborated on other projects including one of Mannheim Steamroller’s latest CD’s, “American Spirit”. Davis said, “When it came time to decide what we should use to represent the feeling inside the jewel box on the CD, it was immediately apparent that only one great American artist, also from the Midwest, would give us the art representative of the music and the sentiment…Terry Redlin. Terry gave us his image and his friendship for ‘American Spirit’. We wanted to give back.”
The finale of the event on August 7th was a spectacular fireworks display.
Sunday, August 8th, the day began with skydivers jumping over the Redlin Art Center, bringing the American flag in on their backs. Following the jump, guests participated in an outdoor prayer service on the grounds of the Redlin Art Center.
Terry Redlin returned early Sunday afternoon to again greet his fans during a 2-hour signing event.
